Copper Cohiba
A lot of the pictures we get for Jeep Shots are good pictures, but few of them have that certain something that makes us wish we were the ones who sent the picture in. Pat and Carolyn Reilly of British Columbia, Canada, sent in just such a picture of their Scrambler. While they don't tell us much about their CJ-8, they do tell us it is called Copper Cohiba, and this picture was taken facing Saturna Island, British Columbia, and the San Juan Islands. They got it with a block heater, supplemental transmission heater, and is basically stock, aside from a new set of 31x10.50R15 Cooper Discoverer LTs and a new bikini top. Who wouldn't want to be wheeling a 20-year-old pristine Jeep in country like that?

Full-Width Flattie
Nathan Skeem of Oasis, Utah, sent us in a bunch of pictures of his '49 CJ-2A. As you might expect from the picture, there isn't much actual flatfender Jeep left. The L-head got tossed in favor of a '97 4.3L Vortec V-6, which is backed by a Turbo Hydramatic 350 slushbox, mated to a Spicer 18 transfer case. Power goes from there out to the front full-width Dana 44 with 3.73 gears and a Power Lok, while out back there is another full-width Dana 44 with 3.73s and a Detroit Locker. Somehow the transfer case and axles hold up to the beating given to them from the 36x14.50-15 Super Swamper TSLs.

The Thief
Since he's had it, this '99 TJ has taken every one of Derek Schmidt's Christmas and birthday presents. It's got a 4.0L I-6 with a Borla Header, throttle body spacer, and an ARB snorkel. The AX-15 transmission and NV231 were left unmolested. A 4-inch Teraflex lift provides the clearance for the 35x12.50R15 BFG ATs. Although the axles have been left alone for the time being, driving around Albuquerque, New Mexico, provides ample opportunity for gnarly rockcrawling, and Derek plans on new gears with front and rear lockers to tackle just about anything he wants.
