Military Edition
Despite what you may think from all the Britney Spears headlines in the newspaper, the majority of Americans haven't forgotten that the flower of American youth is currently risking life and limb in some pretty crummy corners of the world. So as a small token of thanks in this issue of Jp, we're putting out the call to all members of the armed forces to send us their Sideways edition photos and stories. Got a funny snafu, a cool action shot, or just a photo of you and your buds bench racing while reading Jp? Send them on over to christian.hazel@jpmagazine.com with "Military Edition" in the subject line, or snail mail them to Jp magazine, Attn: Military Edition, 6420 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90048.
"This is SSgt. Adam McMurray and his Joes in sunny Iraq taking time for a picture. The Sergeant is in the sunglasses and is on his second tour. Some of his 'Joes' as he calls them are on their third vacation to this most hospitable country. Sgt. Mac's '76 CJ -7 was featured in the May '07 Jp, Baghdad-a-Jeep. Happy hunting boys."

"I'll return home from Afghanistan shortly and am anxious to see my wife, family, and grey '00 XJ. Flying the mighty CH-46E helicopter is great, but keeping four wheels on the ground (and air conditioning) will be a welcome change of pace. Props go to my wife for sending over every new issue of Jp with snacks and fine cigars. The magazines occupied countless hours of my time while waiting for my next flight or for the fuelers to top off the tanks. Soon enough I'll be back in the garage turning wrenches and executing the build plan that I've put together over the last 7 months (thanks to Jp). Keep up the good work over there."

"We couldn't help but laugh when we read the June '08 issue of Jp and heard you guys wished you were combat helicopter pilots. Well, we'll trade any time you guys would like. How 'bout one week as Jp honorary staffers in exchange for one week as honorary combat Blackhawk pilots? The accompanying photos are of myself and 1st Lieutenant Andrew Lang. We are on our last (hopefully) month of deployment to Iraq with A Co. 2-147th Assault Helicopter Battalion based out of St. Paul, Minnesota. The pictures were taken after another 8-hour mission. Thanks for all the support us troops get from Jp. It is the only magazine we look forward to seeing in the PX."

"I've attached a few photos of me enjoying the April issue high above an Iraq village.Let me also give a shout out to all the guys over at Racer X! My quote while being here in Iraq "It's not as bad as you think over here and worse than you can imagine, all in the same breath. Peace!"
